Collins Plastics were contracted by Michael McLoughlin to assist with his pharmacy shop design including fabrication and installation of all display cabinets and units.

Pharmacy Shop Design

Using our expertise we reviewed the shell of the shop and made suggestions to the builder and engineer in relation to the best way to use the lighting with perspex. On this project we used 5mm opal acrylic for the wall panelling, 3mm opal polycarbonate for the bulk head, 15mm clear acrylic for the shelves, 6mm clear acrylic for the light boxes, 19mm PVC for the letters, and a combination of plastic fittings.

Display Cabinets and Units

For the display units,  we cut and shaped the wall panelling including adjustable shelves. The centre floor gondolas had to be lit up so we cut and fabricated the  display units around a carcass.  A top hat  was then made and shelved with integrated lighting to complete the look.

All shelves were curved and laser cut from 15mm clear perspex. The light boxes were cut from 5mm opal acrylic and built into a frame to leave room for more shelving below; shelves were made from 15mm clear plastic perspex. We used 3mm opal polycarbonate for the bulk heads. This had to be curved to take the profile of the shop – 5mm rebate for 3mm material.

The full project took 14 weeks and reflects what can be achieved when the right vision and technical know-how are combined.
